Walnut Canyon National Monument

Walnut Canyon National Monument

Today we took a day trip from Pinetop, AZ to the Sam's Club in Flagstaff, AZ to replenish our wine & some groceries.  It's about a 2 & 1/2 hour drive each way.  On the way, we noticed a sign for the Walnut Canyon National Monument.  Since we had time, we decided to stop on the way home.  It was a great place to stretch our legs & get a little outside sightseeing.  There are 2 paved hiking trails, but the most stringent one, called The Island Trail was closed, as was the Visitor's Center (due to Covid 19 of course!).  We walked the Rim Trail & enjoyed a little time in the sun with some magnificent views.

Not many folks sharing the walk with us - maybe 10 or so?  Easy to maintain Social Distancing.

Pam with Visitor's Center in the background.  The Island Trail staircase would have been a steep climb, but really worth it.  Oh well....someday!
